Journey Four / Chapter 33

Colombian Wanderings

January 2022

From the capital Bogotá, through the northern Andes mountains to remote Salento and Cocora Valley, and through infamous Cali down south to Ipiales, home of a world-unique basilica build over a canyon.

From Medellin we head to the country's capital Bogotá where we explore the bustling city centre and the massive Montserate mountain overlooking the city.

After a day of adventurous bus ride across the northern Andres mountains we arrive to peaceful hilly town of Salento, where we explore local coffee farms and head out for a famous trek across the beautiful Cocora Valley, ending in the House of the Hummingbirds deep in the forest.

Ultimately we continue our journey south, through the city of Cali towards the border with Ecuador. But just before crossing it, we pay a visit to the legendary Basilica of Our Lady of Las Lajas, a world-unique church built over a river canyon.
